Tales of the events, both real and imagined, thoughts, ponderings, some deep and some shallow, observations and the like as experienced by a girl, who was born in the north, grew up in the west, moved to the east and currently lives in the south.

Fighting the Sickness
Well, sickness has hit our house. Andrew's parents had it right after Ben was born, and we stayed away for weeks hoping we wouldn't get it. Well, Jonathon came down it, passed it to Andrew (who has been in quarantine the past few days) and now my little brother is getting it. So far my mom, Ben and I have not fallen to the nasty - sore-throat-high-fever-nasty-cough-bug, but please pray it stays that way!
Other than that, we are doing great. Ben is changing every day, and I already feel like I am missing it. I don't know if it is possible to have a favorite thing, but I LOVE when he sneezes. :) OK, Ben is grunting and squeaking, which either means "I am hungry" or "I need a new diaper" or it probably means both. :)

Valentine's Day Dinner
I know I am a week late, but here are a few pictures from our Valentine's Day dinner! Every year my mom makes a big dinner and decorates the house, and writes cheesy little notes to go with a gift for each person (You make me snicker - with a big Snickers bar etc.). We had a great time, Ryan & Meredith, my In-Laws and Andrew's 2 little brothers and Josh & Missy came. We had great fun!!

Eating Update
Thank you so much for all of you who prayed for Ben while he wasn't eating. His little episode lasted about 36 hours. He is doing MUCH MUCH better... eating like a pro! Every 1-2 hours during the day and 4 - 4 1/2 at night. He is slowly but surely growing, and I am so thankful he has stayed a tiny baby for so long! He is almost 4 weeks old and just growing into his newborn clothes! I am still completely infatuated. :)
Let it Snow!!

Out of the Fog...
Well, tomorrow will be 3 weeks since Benjamin came into our lives. In the past few days I have just gotten a little energy back, (meaning I have finally worn something other than pajamas!) I have even ventured out a few times! Friday night my mom and I went to Babies R Us, Saturday we had a showing, so I hung out at a friend's house, Sunday we went to church, yesterday we went to the mall, and right now I am sitting at a coffee shop (the internet has stopped working at home, so my posts will be few and far between for a while I am afraid).
Every parent says it, but it really is true that the love you have for your child is unlike any other love you have known. I think my relationship with the Lord has been deepened just by experiecing this new kind of love. Ben is a sweet sweet baby, and I could stare at him all day. I study his every move, and could watch him make facial expressions all day... and he can't even do anything yet except, eat, poop and sleep. :) Although, he has just started to smile back at me... amazing.
Andrew and I doing well, I get about 5 hours of sleep (on average) a night and I have taken about 3 naps since he was born... I just can't sleep during the day! Besides...I might miss something. :)

2 Weeks Old
And this is a few days old, but it shows his black hair after a bath. I promise a real "non-Ben" post very soon, but I haven't been out of the house to actually do anything worthy yet...:)
A Day of Firsts
Ben and I ventured out for the first time alone on Tuesday night. I was a little afraid that he was going to wake up and wail but he was the perfect baby and slept the entire time! We headed out to Bible Study, the car put him to sleep he slept the whole time, and slept the whole way back, although we didn't make it to Walmart like we intended, I felt like I had climbed Mt. Everest. Silly I know...
Drew and I also took Ben out for his first walk! It was EIGHTY degrees on Tuesday, so we headed out in the beautiful sunshine and had a grand time, without jackets or socks!
And finally... Ben survived his 1st showing on Tuesday as well. Thankfully we had 5 hours notice, so we were able to get the house clean (even though they still showed up an hour early!). Sadly they didn't seem to interested, I was hoping they would see the baby and have compassion, and just buy the darn house! Maybe next time.

Low Point
Well, 10 days into the Baby Adventure we hit a low point. My precious baby wouldn't eat. I tried everything, and eventually he was eating at least through an eye dropper. This morning is better, he has started sort of eating again - but it was a long 36 hours. We are learning to take one hour at time, and we have brought whole new meaning to the term sleep-deprived. If you think of it pray that Ben would settle down and eat like the eater I know him to be!
