Run Away from Bad Guys

Think twice before you ask your 2-year-old to sing to the baby while driving home.... because this could happen:

(keep watching, it took me a few seconds to get the light on :)

He did this for FIFTEEN minutes on our drive home.

4 Months Old

Naomi is 4 months old! She is growing up so fast. :) She has been sitting up for a couple weeks now, and with a little effort can roll from her back to her stomach. :) (She has rolled the other way once, but hasn't done it since).

At her 4 month appointment she weighed in at 19lb 13oz! The nurse just started laughing when her numbers popped onto the scale. :) She is bigger than Ben at a year! She is in 12 month clothes. :)

She is 26 1/2 inches long. She was "great than the 95%" in everything. Way to go Baby Girl!

Naomi is such a joy in our lives. As a friend mentioned the other day, we gave her the wrong attribute, we should have named her Joy instead of Grace. :) We will just pray she has both.

She hands out smiles for every little thing (unlike her older brother). She thinks that Ben hung the moon, and no one can make her laugh like he can. :) She is FAR more verbal than Ben ever was, and spends much of her day babbling, giggling and screeching. :) Yes, screeching.

EVERYTHING goes in her mouth from toes to stuffed animals to fingers to a passy (she just started taking one this week! Although, only when she wants to :). She found Ben's sippy cup while sitting at the table this week and managed to get it in her mouth and get a mouthful of juice before we noticed. Whoops. :)

Check out those thigh rolls!

More Ben...

L: Ben, how was your nap?

B: Good. I just rescued Moolly & Piggy (his stuffed animals). They were going to get eaten.

---

B: Mommy, do you hear that!?!

L: What is it Ben?

B: It is Thunder Mommy!!! I guess we can't go anywhere now. We don't want to get our hair
wet.

---

L: Eat your breakfast Ben.

B folding his arms and leaning back: So mommy, how was your exercising this morning? Was it good?

And there you have it folks! :)

And there you have it folks... :)

Where is My Baby?

Naomi is growing up so fast (check out those chins)! Nevermind that she is 18+ lbs and in 6-9 and some 12 month clothes, but this little girl is officially sitting up! I can't believe it. For two weeks now she has been pulling forward, leaning on her hands, sitting with the boppy etc. But last night she sat all by herself for about 10 minutes on our bed. Crazy! Ben was 4 months old when he started sitting and his sister has him beat by two whole weeks (a foreshadowing of the future??). It is probably all those rolls that just hold her up. :)

This is still one of her favorite positions. :) She found her hands at about 8 weeks, and at 12 weeks she found her toes and it was love at first... touch? She also found her ears this week, and she thinks they are pretty cool too. :) She has also rolled both ways in the past couple weeks (beating her brother by two whole months!).

From the beginning when I tried to give this girl a passie she would spit it out as if I was trying to make her suck on a pickle. This girl is an equal opportunity finger sucker. Although she likes her thumb on occasion, whoever makes it to her mouth first wins, and the more the better!

Pretty in Pink

Yes, I know I said I don't like pink. And it is still FAR from my favorite color. But I just LOVE this dress... yes I PAID MONEY FOR IT. :) (I did wait until it went from $17 to $5.)

And she finally has enough hair that she can wear a headband. :) So much fun!

P.S. This is a NINE Month dress...

Ben Sayings

L: Hi Ben! How was your nap?

B: Mommy, my leg hurts!

L: Uh-oh. What is the matter?

B: It needs FOOD IN IT!!

---

Ben was sitting pensively in the chair across from me:

L: Ben, what are you thinking about?

B: Mmm... I am just thinking about what my friends are thinking about.

L: Oh, which friends?

B: The big ones.

L: Which big ones?

B: Hmm... just Jonathon & Becki (his aunt and uncle)

L: Oh! And what are Jonathon & Becki thinking about?

B: Just elephants, tigers and snakes.

Alrighty then! :)

----

And a few other random things: He often asks me, "Mommy, what are you thinking about?" Usually while we are driving and things are quiet. :) He gets if from me, I always ask him that when he is quiet. :)

And my favorite, I just don't have the heart to correct his grammar yet...

"Mommy, may you open this for me?" "Mommy, may you hold me hand?" "Mommy, may you feed me milk and juice and water and tea?"

Snap Crackle Pop

Ok, not really...

I have been taking Naomi to the chiropractor. When she was born she greatly favored looking to the right, and although it has been getting gradually better as she sits up and is looking around now, it wasn't totally gone and I wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue.

Secondly, since birth she has had an EXTREMELY sensitive gag reflex. Once she gagged it was all over, she would end up soaked, I would be soaked... it was no fun at all.

On the first visit he did something called muscle testing. Apparently because of the "mother-baby connection" he can push on her muscles while I hold her and test their strength by pushing on MY arm. Crazy. But it worked.

On the second visit, he decided to test for food allergies... and again did it through muscle testing. I held Naomi and he held the different food substances near her and then pushed down on my outstretched arm. Everything checked out fine until we got to dairy... I couldn't even keep my arm up, it was crazy. It was as if it had a boulder on it.

So, life is the Zetterholm house has changed. We are now a dairy free household (well almost, Ben still has milk). It hasn't been that bad... the three days we have been doing it... but it is definitely an adjustment! No milk, no yogurt and no cheese.

Now that I have had to give up caffeine, chocolate AND dairy for this little girl... there is probably a good chance I will some day hang it over her head. Sorry Naomi! :)

If You Got It, Flaunt It

I just can't get enough. :)

This Ain't No Movie Score

Some of you probably have nice soothing music going on while you read this, classical... maybe jazz. Well, this is the soundtrack to which my life is lived...

Yes folks... he did this for AN HOUR... STRAIGHT.
At least I was able to cook dinner in peace... just not the quiet... :)

Precisely

I have a very exact child. I foresee a career is something that required him to be extremely literal and precise. :)

L: Ben please go and get your shoes.

B: Mommy they are my new blue sandals!

---

L: Here is your juice Ben.

B: Mommy, it is tea and juice!

---

L: Ben go and get a book for us to read.

B: My library books on my bed in my room?

L: Yes.

B: Ok Mommy, I will go up the stairs and to my room and get my library books on my bed in my room.

Exersauser - Great for All Ages!!

I have to say, I love it when they can finally use an exersauser! Just a nice change from always having to lay down. Naomi loves being up and being able to look around and can really get it going with those thick legs of hers... she can even get the weighted "stationary" leg going. :)

Ben loves it too, climbing in and out, removing the toys and sometimes he even sticks his legs in. :)

Birthday Party!

We were able to celebrate last night with Ben's friend Caleb with turned 3. Caleb's mother was brilliant and gave party favors (a water bottle and a recorder) BEFORE Caleb opened presents so both Caroline and Ben were entertained and their hands full when Caleb started opening. :)

Ben opening the recorder... it was all over from there. :)

Have you ever tried to get 3 - 2&3 year olds to smile and look at the camera at the same time? (note Ben's precious recorder.)

It is an exercise in futility...

So we tried 6. :)

Yep, that's right - not ONE looking at the camera...

And yet another attempt.

The best of many attempts. :) Ben and Naomi, Caleb & Adam & Caroline and Bruton. :) All kinds of fun!

My Little Potato

3 Months Old

Naomi is 3 Months old (ok fine, she was 3 months old last week :-P). My sweet little "squishy" baby is growing up so fast!

From our very rough estimate she is already 17 or 18lbs... yes, you read that right. She loves standing up (supported of course) and looking around, and loves her exersaucer. She can sit for a second or two at a time but as soon as her head moves it is all over... literally. :) She started rolling from her tummy to her back a few days ago as well. She LOVES to talk and babble - almost constantly. And she gives smiles out generously. We can't imagine life without her!
