Good ol' Friends

Ben and I had a wonderful time visiting friends in NoVA while Andrew was in China. We were there for 10 days and then we drive from Leesburg, VA to Charlotte, NC to pick up Andrew and then home to A'ville. It took us about 11 hours... it was quite exhausting and we didn't get home until 1 in the morning, so needless to say we are still recovering. But we had a great time while we were there, we went on several walks, visits lots of old friends and even went to the zoo. Andrew had my little camera, so I didn't take many pictures... but here are a few..
Ben discovering Sarah's back massager... he wasn't quite sure what to think at first... but then...He found it was pretty cool after all. :)

Most of the animals seemed to scare him, especially if they were up close, but he liked the tiger, hippo and LLOOOVVVEDD the birds.
Ben with Miss Sarah, our lovely hostess and amazing friend. :)

Birds!!

2 our of 4 isn't bad. :-P Mike and Sarah were so wonderful to put us up for so long. And it took a few days, but Ben and Maggie got along great. By the time we left they were sharing food, swapping spit and Ben woke up asking for "da, da, ma, ma!!" (Dog, Dog, Maggie, Maggie!!)

I Wish I Was There...

I know it looks fake, but it's not. This is Andrew and his class on the Great Wall. (He is in a white shirt on the back right). He was in Beijing and now is in Xian, they will be seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors and a bunch of other cool stuff tomorrow. Then on to Hong Kong!

It Just Keeps Spinning...

Despite my best efforts the earth keeps spinning and time keeps passing... here is a little bit of an update on all of us:

Andrew: Andrew is in China right now. He is on a two week trip with his MBA class. He left yesterday and will be back on the 23rd. He is in Shanghai today, and will be touring tomorrow... the Great Wall, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City... (needless to say I am almost beside myself with jealousy). He is also going to be spending 3 days in Hong Kong and is able to meet up with some missionaries from our church who are going to show him around on his tour day there. In other A news... he has started working full-time 7am-5pm every day, and and his evenings are spent doing homework and studying for the LSAT which he is taking in early June... Law School here we come! (Fall 2010). He graduates from Wake Forest's MBA program in December... needless to say we can't wait!

Leah: I am staying QUITE busy with a 15-month-old who has recently discovered climbing and the word MINE! (Augh...), and keeping our house in livable condition (clean left many months ago). I am also still pap paw sitting two days a week, although that will end for the summer very soon... and I am also continuing my Usborne Book business which is going crazy... which is great, but consumes more of the time I don't have. Sleep seems to be the only thing that gives, so I have been sleeping less to try and fit everything else in. And... to try and fight the my-husband-is-in-China-without-me-blues I am going to VA for 10 days to visit all of our college friends there... I can't wait! Pray for me on Wednesday while I attempt the 7 hour drive alone with a 15-month-old. :)

Ben: Benjamin Asher is growing older every day, he is saying more and more words, running, climbing and LOVES to be outside. We had our first official scraped knee a few days ago. He just hit a little growth spurt and officially left all his 12 month clothes behind. He has a new love of stuffed animals and carries them around with him. But they seem to always find their way into my laundry hamper for the night (along with all of his balls, blocks and anything else he can find). He is the sweetest little boy, gives me kisses and hugs whenever I ask and loves to cuddle. He has also discovered pushing and "Mine!" so we are working hard to help him understand the concepts of: friends, gentle and sharing. Fun, fun!

So, there you have a short update and hopefully you can sort of understand why blogging has been less of late... and I don't see it getting much better until Dec... but at least there is an end in site!
