Happenings

  • BLOOD - This learning to walk this is hard work! Two week ago we had blood for the first time, and we have had it multiple time since, the poor little boy can't catch a break! Despite it all he has been a really sweet baby! I have been meaning to post his 9 month pictures, but I delayed taking them so his face wouldn't be all banged up, then I just gave up and while taking the pictures he had his worst spill yet! :(
  • JOB - Well, I feel like I am watching ping-pong. Two weeks ago Andrew was let go, 1 1/2 weeks ago he was hired back, last week his boss had another no-meds-bi-polar-freakout, and as of yesterday we are jobless again. However, he has lined up a few jobs doing some small business consulting type things, so God is taking care of us!
  • CAR - my little Cord has been acting weird all week. There is nothing that rattles your nerves like a car not starting! Thankfully it was only a battery!! And talk about a God thing, someone slipped Andrew $100 at church on Sunday, and the car total came to $99.60. God is Good!!

Not Exactly the Plan

Well, I had a few contractions this morning (1-6am) and was just starting to get my hopes up when they disappeared. So, today Drew and I were just two blurry-eyed people going about our daily business.

To fill up my day I decided to do a few errands. Grab some milk, eggs, medicine for the dog etc. Nothing huge, just busyness. It all started with the grocery store... I was pulling into the parking lot and... my faithful, amazing, Honda died on me... thankfully I just turned it off and on again and it ran fine.

I continued on, and heading home I was coming off the highway and merging onto a 6 lane road when... it happened again. :( Thankfully the guy behind me slowed down in time, but it is not my favorite experience... so I called the mechanic and poor Cord is sitting there waiting for some wonderful person to figure out what is wrong. (So far they can't figure it out).

Meanwhile we are still waiting for Baby Z, although the doctor said today it could be any time. Hopefully we will get our car back with the car seat before Baby arrives...

Why Me?

Well, in an attempt to be a good and responsible adult, I THOUGHT AHEAD and scheduled my car for an oil change and a general check up before we head to Charleston on Sunday and then 2 weeks later to VA. Well, I thought, what better day than my day off to do such a thing?? WRONG. I dropped the car off and Drew picked me up and dropped me off at home for my day of laundry folding, pilates and menu planning. He had not even left the driveway when the fateful call came.

"Good Morning Ma'am. A Realtor would like to show your house between 12:30 at 1:30, will that work for you?"

Thinking AAAHHHHHH, I calmly said "Yes, that will be fine" as I always do. Thanks to my friend Dawn's encouragement, I now have two pairs of pants, so although one was in the wash, I had another one to wear. :) AND, I had two hours to clean the house. We were also having 3 house guests the next night, but I managed to vacuum, clean the kitchen, and make up all three beds for our guests. (Brilliant me washed the sheets last week!). Drew picked me up and we pulled out just as they called to say they were running an hour behind so I couldn't go home until 2:30. So much for my healthy lunch, Chic-Fil-A will have to do!

Despite the craziness, I got to spend an afternoon with my husband doing work errands, my car (after being to two mechanics) has new tires, an alignment, an oil change and they fixed a leak! AND, we had wonderful guests, one one of them grew up in Hamilton VA, 2 minutes from where we went to school and knew a person that we worked with! Small world.
