The Invasion Begins.... May 6

Well, my guitar-playing, sand-ball juggling, snowboarding, college age, handy, 1st of 4 brothers is coming to live with us for the summer! He will be working with A, and also helping us work on our house and we plan to have a great time doing it all. We got all the kinks worked out, and the tickets booked today! Can't wait!

Anchovies, Tissues & Daisies

On Day 1151...

Well, I am sorry I haven't posted in a while, my life has not been too interesting of late. It has consisted of feeling sick and work. :) However, there have been a few diversions: so here are a few new flashes, bits of wisdom and some otherwise-useless information.
  • I find it easier to smile on sunny days, and today is a sunny day.
  • Puffs with Lotion are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and maybe the greatest thing ever.
  • Anchovies and Tuna should never be mixed, the French are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
  • I have the best husband ever.
  • The former statement is universally true, but substantiated by the fact that he bought me roses AND daisies on Valentines Day, so that I could have flowers at work and at home.
  • I love having people over.
  • I can now say I have stuffed 3/4 lb of butter between the skin and flesh of a chicken.
  • Did I mention I love sunny days?
  • I am going to be gone 3 out of 4 weekends in March. :)

Feeling Sick?

On Day 1147...

Do you ever wonder what goes through the cashier's head when they are checking you out at the grocery store? "What is this woman thinking... her chocolate is going to cancel out any good that will come from the broccoli!" "Who eats that many eggs??" "Organic black beans? Who in their right mind buys organic black beans??"

There are a few items that are embarrassing to buy, but I think I found the most embarrassing combination yesterday. Gatorade and toilet paper... and I couldn't think of anything else that we needed. A laughed when I told him what I needed, and refused to go for me. (How Rude! :) I could just hear the cashier, "I am not going near your house any time soon!" So, in an attempt to lessen the embarrassment I went to a grocery store that I don't ever plan to visit again (at least not in the next 10 years), and I used the self-checkout lines. Silly I know... I guess I am just weird that way.

In Sickness... and in Health

On Day 1144...

A and I have been practicing our wedding vows this weekend. I was sick all weekend and hardly moved, and my wonderful loving husband took care of me and even watched hours and hours of chic-flicks (a true test of manhood) without complaining. And now it is my turn... I am finally beginning to feel better and A left work early today feeling sick. Tonight's V-day dinner: Chicken-noodle soup and tea. :)

P.S.

I spoke too soon... I also managed to somehow (without touching it) spill a completely-full (quart-size) glass of ice water all over two chairs and the floor at choir practice last night.

Just call me Grace...

Yours Truly

On Day 1138...

Well, here is a brief glimpse into my life... it is exhausting some times...

The Scene - Just getting home from work, standing in my kitchen

I decide to walk to the mailbox and get the mail, and as I am stepping forward for my keys I realize that my jeans are caught on my shoe, so I bring my foot up to fix it, and as I am putting it down, I get my foot hooked in the garbage can, and fling garbage everywhere, while knocking over the broom which I had leaned on the garbage can because I was going to sweep up the dirt... which is now all over the kitchen again...

So what should have been a 3 second walk to the counter turned into a 15 minute clean-up session...

And I don't even have kids...or pets... or anything else to blame it on. :)

Party, Party, Party!!!

Well, after our hermit weekend we were ready for a change... so we managed to schedule or attend parties every night this past weekend. It was a bit hectic, but great fun... although, we are heading into Monday not quite as rested as we had hoped... oh well... :)

Friday we met up with another couple from church and had dinner at a local pizza restaurant, and then attended a program at a local college. It was a couple who did a collection of little skits about Love, Relationship and Other Confusing Things... and another couple played folk music, it was great fun... and we haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Saturday we had breakfast with Andrew's family and then that evening 15 or so of us met at a friends house for dinner and a game night. What a blessings real friends are!

Sunday we were invited to 2 Superbowl parties (pictures from the second party are below). The first was a Seahawks crowd, and the second were die-hard Steelers fans (obsession doesn't even go far enough). The game was ok, but nothing too exciting... I was just their for the commercials. :)

So, to sum it up, we had a great weekend of running around, eating junk food and drinking coffee, and doing it all with friends... what more could you ask for?

The party hosts were HUGE Steeler's Fans... this was put up at Christmas time... the host made all the ornaments... stained glass, and hand dipped black and yellow balls. And the helmet at the top was a real Steeler's (used in a game) helmet.  Posted by Picasa

This was the second (Steeler's) Party. :) Like Father... Like Son. Posted by Picasa
