Do I Look That Stupid?

I was at the farmer's market today buying everything to can dilly beans and here is the conversation:

Me: Is this a bushel of beans?

Farmer: Yes

Me: Would this type be good for canning?

Farmer: I could tell when you walked up you didn't know what you were looking for. Are you doing the canning?

Me (a little offended): There are two of us canning.

Farmer: Are you helping and older woman?

Me: Yes

Farmer: Get these, this is what she wants.

Note to self - NEVER buy from him again!

Bele Chere

Bele Chere (pronounced bell share) is the biggest street festival in the Southeast, and it takes place the last weekend in July every year in Asheville. They close down all of downtown and set up hundreds of booths and about 10 stages on different streets. It is good food, and great music and AWESOME people watching. It really seems to bring out the freaks. :) Andrew and I usually go for dinner, listen to some music find the great street performers.

This year my father-in-law and brother-in-law ran in the Bele Chere 5K. I had a great time seeing them run past and then watching them cross the finish line. Maybe someday I will run myself... but not this year. So Congrats to Eric & Daniel on finishing!!

Times They Are A'Changin'

Why it is that the grass is always greener on the other side? Andrew and I have been thinking about this a lot in the past few months. God is so good. In all the mess that the past 8 months have been in our lives, I am so thankful that both Andrew and I had so much time to spend with each other and with Benjamin. And yet, we longed for Andrew to have a job. And now, I am sure that in about 2 weeks we will long for what we have had.

Monday morning at 6am Andrew will start work, full-time if not more. There is a lot of work to be done right away to fix the things that no one has looked at for months. I am sure it will eventually balance out, but it is going to be busy for a while. I am also starting to work on Monday morning. I am going to be working 10-20 hours a week from home doing some bookkeeping for a CPA firm. But I have to be trained in the office over the next few weeks. Thank goodness for wonderful mother-in-laws who are willing to watch your baby on such late notice! I have also started selling Usborne books from home, which adds yet another dimension to our soon-to-be-busy lives. And to top it all off we are down to 1 car and finals for summer semester loom just 2 weeks away!! (Then it will be 2 semesters down, 4 to go!)

That said I am so thankful for the work, and God is so good to provide a job for Andrew just a week after everything with his company finished up and we weren't sure what to do next. The last thing left on our "list" is to sell our house, so please continue to pray that the Lord would bring a buyer, which I know He will do in His perfect timing.

Funny

Some of you probably read my post about Craig's List, and how much I love it... well I have another reason to love it...

That is how we found Andrew's job!

I think I am a Craig's List Addict for Life. :)

And There Was Much Rejoicing...

That right people, Andrew starts Monday at 6am!!!!!

God is so good, in His perfect timing He brought a job that is PERFECT for Andrew. He will be working as a Bookkeeper/Office Manager/Business Manager to a small Residential Construction Company in Asheville! He will be using both his MBA & all of his Construction experience. He will be doing new and ever changing/challenging things (which he loves) and it is totally flexible around his school schedule and is somewhere between 20-50 hours a week (could you ask for more??).

Rejoice with us... and if you are in the area I am taking out some peach cobbler (made with ripe farmer's market peaches) in about 30 minutes so come on over and celebrate with us!

God is good all the time. All the time God is good.

If My People Pray

You can all be in prayer for us today, our house is showing (it has probably already showed) and Drew has a job interview at 5 EST. Pray that if it is God's will that he would bring a buyer for our house AND a job for Andrew!
You do not have, because you do not ask.

0 Steps Forward and 10 Steps Back

This video is over a week old... I am getting slow! He has actually started to move forward a VERY little. :) Sorry it is not more exciting, I had a longer, better one but blogger hated it, so here is a short video just to prove he is on the move!

Like Father... Like Son

I just took this picture 5 minutes ago... they are watching a movie. :)

Life is a BLUURRRR

Life has been a blur lately... and here are a few pictures to prove it :)

My camera is not fast enough to keep up with this little boy!

Heavy

Heavy. It is the best word to describe how life has been of late. It has not been Hopeless, but nor can I say it has really been Happy... Just Heavy. Don't get me wrong, there have been moments of happiness... every time I look at Benjamin, but the weight still gets the better of me sometimes. Our house has now been on the market for 14 months, we have had 54 lookers but no takers. Andrew has still not been able to find a job here in Asheville, but our house is preventing us from looking elsewhere. Our God is big. Bigger than our house, bigger than a job, bigger than ALL of it. And it will all come together in His perfect timing. Until then, I will continue to put one foot in front of the other and rely on HIM for strength.

Withdrawal

I am going through Withdrawal.

Withdrawal from a full email inbox.

It is so sad to log in and see that I have one... or worse... NO new emails when only days ago I have have 15-20 emails every 2 hours... WHY you ask? One Word:

Craig's List

I LOVE Craig's list. In 3 days I sold 2 bikes, a chair, a desk and a computer cabinet. It is my new favorite thing... I just wish I had more to sell. :) I have laid in bed the past three nights doing inventory in each room of the house thinking of what we could get rid of... sadly there isn't much left to sell. All that to say, if you have never used Craig's List you should give it a try!

Blah Blog

Well folks (if there still are any of you out there reading) I am sorry for my lack of interesting posts in the past few... well... months. I feel like the blog has become rather Blah...

SO...

In an attempt to revive the lively, interesting blog I once had I am going to start a new little series. It will be called IN MY HUMBLE OPINION (and by that I mean, everyone should agree with me because my opinion is so much better than everyone elses' on the topic it really should be fact :) Basically it will be a review of particular items, events, experiences etc. I am not exactly what shape this is going to take, but I hope it will be interesting. :)

Growing Up

Benjamin is growing up so fast! Here is a picture of one of his latest new things... sitting up in a cart!! Wohoo!! No, huge bulky baby carrier thing. He has been sitting up for a month and a half now, and just yesterday he rolled over... sadly he is just like his parents... never doing anything how everyone else does it. :) Another example: he is scooting ALL OVER the place... he just always goes backward... he wouldn't want to conform my moving forward like everyone else now would we?
Just in the past few weeks he has become SO verbal, he babbles and chatters all the time. He has also figured out how to put his arms up when he wants to be picked up, he looks at the dog when we say "Where's Ivy?" and he answers to his name... funny how something so simple is so grand when it is your child. :-P
And just in case you were wondering he eyes are FINALLY turning brown (we were beginning to wonder if they were going to be blue-gray-hazel forever) and he has sadly lost all of his long baby hair, but he has plenty of new stuff which is lighter than the old stuff but still brown.
So there you go, the Ben updated, whether you wanted it or not. :)
P.S. Note the "Save the Jungle Animals" shirt and the Walmart cart. hehe...
