On Day 913...
Krysten & I are headed out at 3:30am tomorrow to spend a week at a resort in FL. I would tell you that I will post pictures from my new digital camera when I get back... but I still can't figure out how to do it. But I will tell you how it goes. :) And based on A's recent posting record... and the fact that he will be studying to take the NC General Contractors Exam... I am not expecting much from him in my absence. Catch you in a week!

Rant of the Day
On Day 912...
I think that if motorcyclists want to be treated like cars then first need to drive like them. NOT, pass you in the TURN lane, when you are in the LEFT lane, WHILE going through an intersection!

Fun Fun Fun
On Day 911...
The fact that is it 7:00 on a Saturday morning and I am work is sick I know, and is very representative of my last two weeks. Ahh, the fun. Well, since don't have time to blog more you can see where I work. :) www.riverwoodhomes.us.

Moments-of-Lesser-Brilliance
On Day 902...
This morning, as I was making myself breakfast, I experienced another one of my (all too frequent) moments of lesser brilliance. Somehow, I not only made the still-uncooked eggwhite slide off the pan, I managed to get it all the way down the front of the stove and all over the kitchen floor. Have you ever tried cleaning that stuff up? Believe me... not so fun.

In other news... well there really isn't any. I have been working on importing information into a computer system for our company that would do all the scheduling (for building houses) and also put all the house selections in a nifty little system for the home buyer... but someone has to enter all those selections and create the building schedule. Who's idea was it to offer 200 different vinyl colors, and 25 different kinds of cabinets??? Not to mention countertop colors and siding options. I had forgotten what it is like to work a full-time job. I don't like it much... :)
But... less than two weeks until I leave for a week in West Palm Beach, FL! Oh yeah!

Mercy
On Day 899...
Last Friday night was Drew's and my first youth meeting at youth leaders. We let at the home of a family in the church. The house was in the country, complete with a huge garden and horses. Our church is incredibly blessed to have a great youth pastor. After dinner Pastor Mark was playing with his daughter, Mercy, on the trampoline. Because of all the rain we have had recently it was wet and Mercy slipped and hit her head and her head snapped back and she went limp. I can only imagine what goes through the mind of a father at a moment like that, I was scared stiff and shaking and she is not even mine. We called 911 and after what seemed life an eternity Mercy woke up. We are still not sure what happened, we think that she might have passed out or even had a seizure. It was just a remind of how brief life can be, and that we need to take advantage of every moment. This time, however, God showed Mercy His mercy. :)

The Next Hurdle
On Day 893...
Now that Andrew has sailed over the "GMAT" hurdle and also the "Grad School Application" hurdle, we are preparing for the third. Today and tomorrow he is taking a seminar preparing him to take the NC General Contractor's License Exam. I think that thrilled is the word that best captures his feelings (please not the sarcasm). Nobody really wants to memorize all the OSHA standards and how big a notch you can cut in a 2/10 before you can't use it anymore, but it will get him one step closer to where he needs to be. (And one step closer to being able to build our own house!) So just two days of classes, hours and hours of studying and an exam followed by 2+ years of Grad School and we are home free!

Random Tidbits
On Day 888...
It is way past my bedtime, however I am up waiting for Nathan and Sarah to arrive. Here are random tidbits that wouldn't take up a post by themselves, but are worthy of noting:
1. Ryan - My brother was thinking about moving to NC, and although we would have loved to have him, he has decided to pursue school full-time and really feels that God is calling him into the ministry. You can't really argue with that. :)
2. Asheville Pizza - Last Friday night Drew and I had a "date night" at Asheville Pizza & Brewery. It is a run-down old restaurant/movie theatre/bar. However, movies are only $2!! So we had a wonderful time together watching Hitch (for the second time) and just spending some relaxed time together.
3. Youth Ministry - Andrew and I have decided to become youth leaders in our church. Until now, I have only worked with kids under about 3 (they are much less intimidating). I think it will be as much of a growing experience for me as it will for them. Next Sunday we are "initiating" the rising 6th graders as then enter middle school, and it has a Star Wars theme... three guesses on who I get to be... and the first two don't count. :)
4. Lost/Alias - Sadly our nights of watching Lost/Alias are over... at least until next year. We had a great time with friends, not to mention the addicting shows. I think I am officially a TV series junkie...
5. Allergies - Well, it has been confirmed... I am REALLY REALLY allergic to tree pollen. Growing up in Utah, there really isn't much there that is alive to be allergic too... NC is a whole different game. Everything is green and blooming and I can't breathe, see or smell anything!
6. Star Wars - No, I haven't seen it yet.
7. Craggy Gardens - Drew and I decided to go for a hike on our long weekend. We had a great time together and the weather was perfect... however all the trees that were blooming in Asheville 2 weeks ago, are blooming now on the top of the mountain... so again I couldn't breathe, see or smell... but we still managed to have a great time.
8. Daisies - I love daisies. As Meg Ryan puts it, "Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?" I am not sure why I like them so much, perhaps because they are simple and they just make me smile. Well, my husband spoils me, and so now I have 2 bunches of daisies in the house!
9. Cinnamon Rolls - I was talking to a friend a few days ago and she told me how her husband had made her cinnamon rolls for breakfast one morning (granted it was her birthday and then have only been married a month, but still...). According to Drew, guys like that are annoying because no guy can do that... but last night when I got home from work Drew bought and baked cinnamon rolls just for me. Ah yes, I am spoiled... but I don't mind. :)
10. Grad School - Andrew has officially applied to the MBA program at Western Carolina University.
11. Contractor Class - Next Tuesday and Wednesday Andrew is taking a class in preparation for the NC General Contractors Exam... what fun! (Who really wants to know how much rebar needs to be in the foundation of a house? Or discuss the advantages of a slabs vs. crawlspaces?)
